Ian joined Barita as Head, Non-Financial Risk & Enterprise Risk Management on June 1, 2020. Prior to his posting at Barita, Ian spent the majority of his career at Scotiabank Jamaica, where he served in varying capacities over seventeen (17) years. Ian earned a MBA in Management Information Systems from the Mona School of Business and a Bachelors of Science degree in computer science from the University of the West Indies.

Mrs. Julie Thompson-James Non-Executive Director
Julie Thompson-James is an Attorney at Law and founder of CUBE Corporate Support Limited, a Corporate Governance advisory firm supporting the growth of small and medium-sized companies in Jamaica that are privately held or publicly listed. Julie's experience spans both the public and private sector. In the public sector, she served as Corporate Secretary and Legal Counsel to the Financial Sector Adjustment Company Limited, a private company of the Government focused on rehabilitation of failed financial institutions. Her public sector service also saw her in the role of Assistant Attorney General, Attorney General's Chambers, Litigation Division, Ministry of Justice. Julie has held progressive roles in the private sector with Scotia Group Jamaica Limited, inclusive of Vice President of Business Support at Caribbean Central. As Regional Head, she contributed to an improved internal control environment, stringent Third Party Relationship Management, Business Process Improvement and oversight for operational efficiency and effective expense management initiatives. Julie holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), (Hons.) from the London School of Economics, London, England; Certificate of Legal Education from the Norman Manley Law School, University of the West Indies, Kingston, Jamaica and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics & Business Administration (Hons.) from Howard University, Washington, D.C., U.S.A. Her legal experience over the last 19 years included the following significant areas of practice: Complex Commercial & Civil Litigation Banking, Insurance and Securities law - commercial loans, capital market transactions and debt restructuring and assignment Company Law, Corporate Governance and Shareholder engagement She is a member of the Advisory Committee to the Minister of Finance & the Public Service on the Government Pension and a Director of Students' Loan Bureau.
